About us

Alpakafarm was established in Spring 2012 by a Pärnu local Kaja and Norwegian Kai. The farm is one of the biggest camelid farms in Estonia, where you have the opportunity to meet alpacas, llaamas, guanacos, goats, minisheep, Vallais' blacknose sheep and guinea pigs. And of course cats and dogs.

How did Kaja and Kai get started?

In June 2011, Kaja and Kai bought Kännu farm, which had been untouched for over 20 years. A lot of work followed as the garden and house needed thorough renovation and care.

At first, the farm was supposed to become a Summer home. Through an unfortunate event Kaja and Kai soon realised that a house cannot be left alone. They then decided to establish the farm as a tourist attraction. Firstly, the idea was to start a sort of bed and breakfast. Then an even better idea came to mind: to bring home alpacas.

The first alpacas arrived from the UK in May 2012. At first, 14 males. The females with  their children followed in September.

Now the farm is home to almost 80 alpacas, and 150 animals altogether.
